In the 1940s, the Panerai Workshop in Florence perfected a new case designed to continuously meet the strict requirements of the Italian Navy commando. Based on the case now known as Radiomir, in the new case of the 1940s, the lugs are no longer bent and welded to the case as before with a thick steel wire, but instead Milled from the same piece of steel, making it bigger and stronger.

In addition to the integrally formed lugs, other evolutions have also changed the Radiomir case, which foreshadows the development of the appearance design of the case later, which prompted the official birth of the Luminor case a few years later. In the case of the Radiomir 1940, the pincushion-shaped contours did not look as sharp as before. The winding crown is slightly enlarged, and the cylindrical design is used instead of the conical shape; the Radiomir 1940 case was born, and today Panerai re-interpreted this case with the same shape and thinner. These watches exude the power and charm of time.

Panerai History launched the new Radiomir 1940 3 Days 3 Days Power Reserve Watch (PAM00514) and Radiomir 1940 3 Days Oro Rosso 3 Days Power Reserve Red Gold Watch (PAM00515), for the first time to appreciate the charm of the Radiomir 1940 case. Available in stainless steel and red gold, the watch is equipped with a P.3000 manual winding mechanical movement with a 3-day power reserve.

The Radiomir 1940 3 Days 3 day power reserve watch uses the unique design of Panerai, and in the choice of materials and the construction of every detail of the watch, it incorporates advanced watchmaking technology. The dial features a small second at 9 o’clock and a date window at 3 o’clock. The dial adopts a classic sandwich structure. Luminous materials are applied between the two overlapping sheets. The light shines through the hollow hour markers corresponding to the upper sheet and is clearly visible in the dark. Panerai has designed this dial structure as early as the late 1930s, its role is to improve brightness and legibility. The stainless steel dial is black, while the red gold dial is brown.

The stainless steel watch is made of AISI 316L stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance, while the red gold model uses 5Npt red gold. This alloy has a higher proportion of copper content, so the color is deeper. Ratio of platinum, it can help prevent metal oxidation. The case and frame of both models are polished. The stainless steel and red gold models have black leather straps and brown alligator leather straps.
