One of the new works launched by Louis Erard at the 2012 Baselworld Baselworld Watch & Jewellery Show is the latest watch of its Excellence series, with a small second hand and a super power reserve. Its exclusive module is powered by Louis Erard Developed with ETA 7001 RM 10 manual winding movement.
Small Seconds Power Reserve watches are available in limited editions of 18K rose gold or unlimited steel. I was fortunate enough to see these two watches at the Baselworld Watch & Jewellery Show. The rose gold version does give a very warm and elegant impression. It is a perfect match when wearing a suit, while the steel version is dynamic. The classic look is full of youthful vitality.
The clean and clear dial layout enhances readability and makes eyes more comfortable; the classic black Roman numerals on the white dial remind me of the classic elegance of the Patek Philippe watch.
The 40 mm case size is very applicable even today when many people like to wear large watches. The watch is waterproof to 165 feet, and wearing it is no problem even when taking a bath or swimming. Still, I don’t think I would immerse a watch with a leather strap in water.
Louis Erard’s research and development of exclusive modules with power reserves such as exclusive self-made complex functions conveys his sense of mission as a traditional ‘maker’ of watches. Last but not least, the blue hands of the Small Seconds Power Reserve watch have a very unique style.
