IWC invited F1 World Championship champion Hamilton in 2017 to shoot a micro-film of the Ingenieur series. In 2019, in order to continue the film, IWC once again invited Hamilton to perform a micro-movie of the new pilot watch. The concept of the two sets of films is the same. The addition of the Spitfire connects the historic motorsport with the world of flying. These two worlds are the cornerstone of the IWC country. The new film successfully shows the connection between the two and promotes the brand Passion for machinery and engineering.
The 2019 micro-film is a continuation of the 2017 micro-film. In the film, the protagonist Hamilton, a spitfire pilot bronze chronograph on his hand, pauses at the same time as the fighter.
This micro-film is part of IWC’s global campaign for the new pilot watch. In the movie, Hamilton swept the Goodwood circuit on the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow W125 car, and a silver-wing Spitfire suddenly passed over him. When the fighter approached again at low flight, Hamilton pressed the ‘Stop’ button of the Spitfire pilot’s chronograph on his wrist-the time stopped momentarily, and the fighter stood still in midair. After admiring this legendary fighter at different angles, Hamilton pressed the chronograph button again-time returned to flow, and the fighter flew high again. The slogan ‘I can stop time, but nothing stops me’ emerges at the end of the movie, depicting the characteristics of this F1 racing star who controls his own destiny. The Spitfire watch on his hand is especially for those who need precise time to meet the challenge.
In the film, Hamilton, who won five Formula 1 World Championships, races the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow and competes with the Silver Wing Spitfire.
Franziska Gsell, Chief Marketing Officer of IWC Schaffhausen, said: ‘Through the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow W125 car, Silver Wing Spitfire and our new Spitfire pilot chronograph, the movie successfully demonstrated a high Performance, the beauty of precision machinery, and the adventurous spirit of the driver. By inviting brand ambassador Hamilton, a champion racer and trend indicator performance, we bring out the brand’s high-quality engineering technology and timeless design.
This time, Hamilton wore a Spitfire pilot bronze chronograph in the film. This is the first time that IWC introduced the 69000 series movement to the pilot series. In addition to the timing function, it also has the date and week display.
